What is the Meta Tag Generator?
The Meta Tag Generator is a free browser-based tool that produces a complete set of HTML <meta> tags for SEO, Open Graph (Facebook, LinkedIn), and Twitter Cards. Fill in your page title, description, canonical URL, and image, and get production-ready HTML tags you can paste directly into your <head>.
A live Google Search Preview updates as you type so you can see exactly how your page will appear in search results before publishing.

What Tags Are Generated
Standard SEO:
<title>— Page title shown in browser tabs and search results<meta name="description">— Short description shown in search snippets<meta name="robots">— Controls whether search engines index and follow the page<link rel="canonical">— Tells search engines the preferred URL to avoid duplicate content
Open Graph (for social sharing):
og:title,og:description,og:type,og:url,og:image— Controls how the page appears when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, and other platforms that support OG tags
Twitter Cards:
twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image— Controls the rich card Twitter/X displays when your URL is shared
Tips for Better SEO Meta Tags
- Keep titles under 60 characters to avoid truncation in search results
- Keep descriptions under 160 characters — longer descriptions are truncated with an ellipsis
- Use your canonical URL consistently — it should match the URL in the browser address bar exactly
- OG images should be at least 1200×630 pixels for best display across social platforms
- Set
robotstonoindex, nofollowonly for pages you explicitly do not want indexed (e.g. thank-you pages, admin dashboards)
For complete search engine coverage, pair your meta tags with an XML Sitemap. To understand how crawlers interpret your pages, see our HTTP Status Codes Guide.
